Stages & Environments
Stage & environment design
Festival stages and immersive environments I co-designed and then actually built, with crews of eight who made them real.
From 2022 to 2025 I co-designed a stage for CAMP Festival (Calling All Magical People) every year: Cosmic Playground, Cosmic Jungle, Cosmic Portal and The Pavilion.
Every stage I co-designed had one job: to transport you to another world. Each began with a portal, something you pass through that leaves the ordinary behind, and each was built from the same palette of wood, chiffon, LED tubes, lasers, haze and fog. Every one was brought to life by a crew of eight.
I also co-designed and fabricated a 10 ft, 360° round DJ booth, made for crowd connection. You can rent it or buy it.

What I design
A whole world around the music
Festival stages
The entrance, the canopy, the booth, the lighting and the dance floor, designed as one world.
Immersive environments
Iridescent LED rain clouds. A starry fabric labyrinth. Cascading plants and actual swings.
DJ booths
A 10 ft round booth that puts the DJ in the middle of the crowd. Rent it or buy it.
Chill spaces
Cuddle puddles, hammocks, and a mountain with a subwoofer buried inside.
Lighting & décor
Creative direction for lighting, décor and production management.
Music for the stage
I was CAMP Festival's Music Director from 2023 through 2025. See event production.
The stages
The Pavilion
The Pavilion was an Avatar-inspired underwater sea world, psychedelic and glowing, built around our own Tree of Souls. Its branches reached across the rafters of the pavilion, lit with LEDs and fiber optics, and my round DJ booth wrapped around the glowing trunk. At the far end sat Chill Mountain, a cuddle puddle with a subwoofer buried inside, so you could feel the music even while you rested.
Cosmic Playground
Cosmic Playground was about the mystery of traveling through the galaxy. You entered through a starry fabric labyrinth that dissolved the line between the ordinary world and the magic on the other side, and came out facing another portal: a neon triangle framing the DJ booth, with lasers cutting through the haze behind it to form a round tunnel of light that seemed to pull you up and in. Layered scrims flanked the booth on either side, washed in spacey visuals.
Cosmic Portal
Cosmic Portal was my feminine spaceship, a nod to the feminine as the original portal. It was also my love letter to the DJ booth in the round, set in the center of the dance floor so DJs and dancers face each other and the energy flows both ways. The look was my Lisa Frank fever dream: iridescent LED rain clouds, disco fruit balls and every surface sparkling.
Cosmic Jungle
Cosmic Jungle was an ode to my Bushwick loft, and its mission was to carry people from a campground in Maryland to the Amazon. We built it from natural fibers and natural elements: a raw bamboo stage, cascading plants, macramé, tropical flowers and real swings. The sides of the DJ booth were low-lit on purpose, with lanterns projected onto white spandex triangles on the bamboo stage, and soft cuddle-puddle corners where people could sink in and rest between dances.
360° DJ Booth
10 ft diameter, flat-packable, marine-grade plywood, plexiglass front, made for crowd connection.
Rent it for $1,400 or buy it for $5,000.
Questions
Good to know
What kinds of stages do you design?
Festival stages and immersive dance-floor environments. From 2022 to 2025 I designed a stage for CAMP Festival (Calling All Magical People) every year: Cosmic Playground, Cosmic Jungle, Cosmic Portal and The Pavilion.
Do you build the stages, or only design them?
Both. These are stages I co-designed and then built, with crews of eight who made them real.
Can I rent or buy the 360° DJ booth?
Yes. It rents for $1,400 and sells for $5,000. It is 10 ft in diameter, flat-packable, made of marine-grade plywood with a plexiglass front. Full details are on the booth page (opens in a new tab).
Can you program the music for the stage as well?
Yes. I was Music Director for CAMP Festival from 2023 through 2025, and I DJ. See event & festival production, or my sets at danielamusic.co (opens in a new tab).
Where are you based, and do you travel?
I'm based in New York City. My work has taken me to Miami, Vermont, Philadelphia and the Catskills, and I take on projects in NYC and beyond.
How do I start a project with you?
